Privacy Policy (Biotaktix App)

This page supplements our general privacy policy, which contains all further information on the processing of personal data by Biotaktix. Together, both documents constitute our complete privacy policy in accordance with the GDPR.

Collection and Processing of Location Data

Our app collects location data from your device, provided you have explicitly enabled this feature. Location tracking is used to document the vehicle or site location in connection with weighing operations, as well as to trace transport routes and the origin of the weighed material.

The collected location data is transmitted to our servers when a weighing ticket is created and linked to the respective weighing ticket. It is then accessible to the responsible facility operator. Only the location data recorded between the two most recent weighing operations is stored. If no previous weighing has taken place, the location data of the last four hours is stored.

The processing of location data is based on your explicit consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. No data is shared with third parties. The data is stored exclusively on our own servers.

Background Location Tracking

If you activate tracking mode in the app settings and consent to background location tracking, the app is able to collect location data even when it is not actively in use in the foreground. This feature is intended to provide a complete record of a vehicle's transport route and to make the origin of the material recorded on the weighing ticket traceable — for example, from which starting point a transport to the facility was made and which route was taken.

Background tracking is disabled by default and is only used after your explicit, separate consent. The location data collected in this way is used exclusively for the described purpose of transport route and origin documentation and is linked to the respective weighing ticket.

You can disable background tracking at any time in your device's system settings.

Deletion of Location Data

You can delete the location data stored on our servers at any time. Deletion can be initiated directly in the app settings. Once deleted, the data is irrevocably removed and is no longer available to the facility operator.

The processing of location data is based on your explicit consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by withdrawing the location permission in your device's system settings and deleting the stored data in the app settings. No data is shared with third parties.

Updating the Mobile Application (Expo / EAS Update)

To deliver bug fixes as well as security and feature updates, our mobile application uses the "EAS Update" service provided by 650 Industries, Inc., 624 University Ave, FL1, Palo Alto, CA 94301, USA ("Expo").

When the application is launched, an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to Expo's servers is established automatically in order to check whether a newer version of the application code is available. The following data is processed in this context:

The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in providing the application in a secure, stable and up-to-date manner, in particular in the prompt correction of errors and the closing of security vulnerabilities. Storing the update package on your device and reading the aforementioned technical information are strictly necessary in order to provide the service you have explicitly requested (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act — TDDDG).

Expo processes this data on our behalf as a data processor. The relevant provisions are part of Expo's terms of service. Data is transferred to the United States of America. This transfer is safeguarded by the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission (Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914, Module 2), which form part of Expo's terms of service (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). In addition, 650 Industries, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Push Notifications

If you have enabled push notifications, we send them via Expo's push service (650 Industries, Inc., address as above). For this purpose, a push identifier ("Expo Push Token") is generated on your device and stored with Expo. The content of each notification is forwarded by Expo to your operating system's push service — Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google Ireland Limited) or the Apple Push Notification service (Apple Distribution International Ltd.) — and is not stored permanently after delivery.

The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG, which you grant when first prompted by the application. You may revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by disabling push notifications in the settings of the application or of your operating system. The lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to the revocation remains unaffected.

With regard to the transfer of data to the USA, the statements in the section "Updating the Mobile Application (Expo / EAS Update)" apply accordingly.
